(Almost) Every time when I took the kyu examination, sensei commented me about speed and power.  ‘More speed & power!,’ he always told me that.  I’m trying, but I still not be able to do so.  Today during the practice before the exam, P’ Pook told me that I have to lock the power at the very last moment, not just punching and the power just scatter away.  I’ll keep that in mind and try to practice on that.  However, this time sensei didn’t make a comment about speed and power, but my posture.  Sensei told me to make an Ookii (big) posture.  My posture is too small.  J2 Kame (another karate’s teacher) also commented about my hip.  I have to twist my hip more.  I’ll try to practice on that, too.  Oss!

This time, the practice focused on Kata.  The basic practice (Kihon) was also for Kata, for example, the 270 degrees turn in Heian Shodan at step 9-10.  The confusing one was 360 degrees turn.  For me, it was so difficult and made me kind of dizzy.  After that we practiced Kata.  For brown belt (purple also), we practiced Bassai dai.  Do the Bassai dai one time, two times was still okay, but do it for like 5 times without stop!  It was very exhausted.  I could hardly breath.  Before the practice was over, brown belt (purple also) had to strengthen our leg power.  I don’t know how it call.  We had to jump and switch legs quickly (of course, also punching at the same time).  We did this for both zenkutsu-dachi and kokutsu-dachi.  疲れた～

これは日本語の日記だから、日本語について話します。私は最近毎日毎日自分で日本語を勉強しています。日本語能力試験１級を合格するためです。合格したいけど、去年も今年は合格すると思いし．．．今は合格かどうか分からない。言葉がいっぱいし、聴解はまだ上手にならないし、読解も難しい。どうしようかなあ～。できるだけ頑張って勉強しています。

Since I’ve registered for the exam, I have to do my best.  I’ve looked at the Yamaha Music Foundation website and checked for the exam details.  The fundamental grade exam consists of 2 sections: practical and written.

Practical Section

1. Solfege
   • Melody Singing (50)
   • Sight Singing with Accompaniment (50)
2. Keyboard Work
   • Accompaniment (50)
   • Transposition (50)

Written Section

1. Theory of Music (100)
2. Chord Progression (100)
3. Aural Test (100)

Total of 500
A mark of at least 60 points of each subject and 375 points in total must be obtained to pass.

I’m quite worried about solfege.  I can’t sing.  When I studied piano and teacher asked me to sing melody/chord, I couldn’t do.  Until now, I keep thinking that I cannot do it.  I wish that I will soon overcome this ‘scare’ feeling.

Apart from electone examination, I’m also worried about Japanese Language Proficiency Test.  Recently, I have a feeling that it’s nearly impossible that I could memorize all the vocabularies.  I also have to practice listening and reading.  I’m thinking about changing strategy to focusing on reading instead of vocabulary.  Reading score is weight more than grammar and vocabulary.  It is, of course, more difficult than grammar and vocabulary.  The answers aren’t always in the passage.  Most of the questions are analysis ones.

I’ve just realized that the level 1 of Japanese Language Proficiency Test is very difficult.  Even if I could memorize all the vocabularies in the book, I couldn’t answer all the questions.  I also have problems with listening and reading. All I do (or can do) now is just trying to memorize vocabularies as much as I can and practice all previous exams that I have.  I know that the chance of me to pass level 1 this year is so … little, but I still think it is worth to try.

ประเดิมวันจันทร์ด้วยวิชา SE ข้อสอบยากมาก ทำไม่ได้หลายข้อ และมีอีกหลายข้อที่ไม่แน่ใจ ส่วนวันอังคารเป็นวิชา gen-ed เรียนเกี่ยวกับการป้องกันมลพิษ (Pollution and Prevent Control – P2Control) ข้อสอบมีทั้งหมด 8 ส่วน โดยให้เลือกทำ 6 ส่วน ข้อสอบมีทั้งความจำและวิเคราะห์ ทำไม่บ้างไม่ได้บ้าง ส่วนวันพุธสอบ 2 วิชา คือ AI 2 กับ Formal ทำไม่ทันทั้งสองวิชาเลย รู้สึกเสียใจเหมือนกัน วันพฤหัสสอบวิชา Data Mining ข้อสอบเหมือนจะง่าย แต่ก็ทำผิดตั้งเยอะ :(

วันเสาร์มีสอบภาษาญี่ปุ่น เป็นการทดสอบว่าถ้าสอบวัดระดับจริงๆ (การสอบวัดระดับเป็นการสอบที่เป็นมาตรฐานของญี่ปุ่น ปัจจุบันมีเพียงปีละ 1 ครั้ง สอบวันอาทิตย์แรกของเดือนธันวาคม) จะได้คะแนนประมาณเท่าไร จะสอบผ่านไหม ถ้าสอบระดับหนึ่ง เกณฑ์การสอบผ่านคือ 70%

เรื่องการเดินลุยไฟนั้น ก็เคยได้ยินมาบ้าง เคยดูสารคดี (ไม่แน่ใจว่าเรียกว่าสารคดีหรือเปล่า แต่เป็นรายการที่ให้ความรู้) เกี่ยวกับเรื่องการเดินลุยไฟด้วย เป็นกลุ่มนักวิทยาศาสตร์เค้ามาทำการทดลอง มีพูดเกี่ยวกับการเอานิ้วมือจุ่มลงไปในของเหลวที่มีอุณหภูมิสูง และการเดินผ่านหินร้อนๆด้วยเท้าเปล่า เค้ากล่าวว่าในขณะที่เดินจะมีเหงื่อออก ซึ่งเหงื่อเหล่านั้นจะทำตัวเป็นฉนวนความร้อนป้องกันเท้าเราไว้ ทำให้ไม่เป็นอะไร

กิจกรรมอีกอย่างหนึ่งที่ได้ทำในคาบนี้ และรู้สึกสนุกมาก ก็คือไพ่ลักษณะนิสัย แลกไพ่ไปแลกไพ่มา ปรากฏว่าได้ไพ่สีดำหมดเลย ทำให้ได้เรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับตัวเองมากขึ้น และรู้ว่าควรจะคบกับใครที่มีลักษณะนิสัยยังไง เพื่อเป็นการปรับตัวเองด้วย

เริ่มสัปดาห์ วันจันทร์ก็ได้รับของขวัญข้ามน้ำข้ามทะเลมาจากอเมริกา รู้สึกดีใจมากเลย ที่ host family จำได้ และอุตส่าห์ส่งของขวัญมาให้ด้วย host family นี้เป็น host family ที่ไปอยู่ด้วยตอนเข้าร่วมโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนภาษาและวัฒนธรรม ซึ่งอยู่เค้าเป็นระยะเวลาประมาณ 10 เดือน (August 2003 – June 2004) ส่งที่ host ส่งมาให้ก็คือสร้อยคอรูปผีเสื้อ สวยมากๆเลย :)

วันพุธ ได้ไปกินข้าวเย็นที่ร้านอาหารด้วย (เหตุที่กินตั้งแต่วันพุธเพราะว่าวันพฤหัสคุณพ่อต้องไปต่างจังหวัด) ไปกินกัน 3 คน พ่อ-แม่-ลูก ก็ไม่ได้สั่งกับข้าวอะไรเยอะแยะมากมาย มีปลากับกุ้ง อาหารรสชาติอร่อยดี

วันพฤหัส ได้รับ msg มากมาย ทั้งทางมือถือ และใน facebook ได้รับของขวัญวันเกิดจากเพื่อนๆ พี่ๆ ด้วย ขอบคุณทุกๆ คนมากเลยค่ะ :) จริงๆ ตั้งใจว่าคืนวันพุธจะไม่นอนดึก เพราะไม่อยากรู้สึกง่วงนอนให้วันเกิด แต่สุดท้ายก็นอนดึกอยู่ดี เพราะว่าวันที่ 17 กันยายน เป็นวันส่งงานวิชา SE จริงๆแล้วเนื้อหาในรายงานก็เกือบสมบูรณ์แล้ว แต่ว่าเสียเวลาในการจัด format อยู่ไม่น้อย แล้วก็ต้อง print ด้วย แต่การส่งงานก็ผ่านพ้นไปได้ด้วยดี ต้องขอบคุณเพื่อนๆสมาชิกกลุ่ม SE ด้วย รู้สึกว่าเพื่อนๆในกลุ่มเป็นกลุ่มที่ดีมาก ช่วยกันทำงานและทยอยทำ ไม่ใช่มานั่งปั่นเอาคืนสุดท้าย

กิจกรรมที่ได้ทำในวันนั้น คือออกแบบ department store ซึ่งเป็นการออกแบบอารยธรรมใหม่จากการที่โลกได้รับภัยพิบัติ และพวกเราคืนผู้ถูกเลือกให้อยู่รอด โจทย์ที่ได้รับนี้ถือว่าค่อนข้างท้าทาย และเวลาในการทำค่อนข้างจำกัด แต่ก็สามารถทำจนสำเร็จออกมาได้ สิ่งท้าทายอีกสิ่งหนึ่งก็คือการออกมารายงานหน้าห้อง โดยข้อกำหนดก็คือ 20 วินาที ต่อ 1 slide ปกติแล้วเวลา present อะไรก็แล้วแต่ จะประมาณว่า 1 นาที ต่อ 1 slide พออาจารย์บอกว่า 20 วินาที ก็คิดว่าน่าจะทำได้สบายๆ แต่ว่า slide ที่ทำให้วันนั้นมีแต่รูปภาพ ซึ่งก็จะมีรูปแนวเดียวกันหลายๆ slide แล้วจะให้พูดอะไรตั้ง 20 วินาที!!! กลัวว่าจะพูดไม่ได้เหมือนกัน แต่แล้วก็สามารถทำได้ :)
